Introduction

The two main groups of nouns are:
- Proper Nouns
- Common Nouns
A proper noun is the name of a specific person, place, animal, organization, or thing.
Rule
Proper nouns always begin with a capital letter.

A common noun refers to general people, places, animals, things, or ideas.
** Examples
- teacher
- city
- dog
- book
- lesson
- The teacher explained the lesson.
- We live in a large city.
- The dog is sleeping.
Countable and Uncountable Nouns
** Countable Nouns
Countable nouns can be counted and usually have singular and plural forms.
* Examples
- year → years
- desk → desks
- lesson → lessons
- voice → voices
* Sentences
- I have two books.
- There are five students in the room.
* Uncountable Nouns
Uncountable nouns cannot normally be counted individually and usually do not have plural forms.
* Examples
- safety
- dirt
- biology
- information
- advice
- Your advice was helpful.
- Information is important.
* Concrete Nouns
Concrete nouns refer to things we can see, touch, hear, smell, or taste.
* Examples
desk
door
finger
apple
car
* Sentence
The desk is near the window.
* Abstract Nouns
Abstract nouns refer to ideas, feelings, qualities, or concepts.
* Examples
- happiness
- safety
- knowledge
- love
- friendship

# What is a Noun?
A noun is a word that names:

# 1️⃣ Proper Nouns
A proper noun is the name of a specific person, place, animal, organization, or thing.
الاسم العلم (Proper Noun) هو اسم شخص أو مكان أو شيء محدد.
💡 Important Rule:
Proper nouns always begin with a CAPITAL LETTER.
Examples:
✅ David
✅ London
✅ Egypt
✅ Friday
✅ Amazon
Examples in sentences:
🔹 David is my best friend.
🔹 We visited London last summer.
🔹 My birthday is on Friday.

Always use capital letters with proper nouns.

# 2️⃣ Common Nouns
A common noun refers to general people, places, animals, things, or ideas.
الاسم العام (Common Noun) يشير إلى أشخاص أو أماكن أو أشياء بشكل عام.
Examples:
teacher
city
dog

car
Examples in sentences:
🔹 The teacher explained the lesson.
🔹 We live in a large city.
🔹 The dog is sleeping.
Notice:
teacher = common noun
city = common noun
dog = common noun
They refer to things in general, not specific names.
